Thumbs up

bring back the 540P-II

with the talk of reissuing ibanez guitars around lately, i think that it would be an awesome idea to reissue the 540P-II. with the comparitive rarity of this guitar and how sought after they still seem to be, i bet a few people would love to see this reissued. i would buy one in a flash.

Re: bring back the 540P-II

That will never happen. If Ibanez ever decides to bring back an 'old' model, they sure as hell will pick a model that will actually sell.

The 540PII didn't sell well in the past, and won't sell well in the future.

It's too much of a geek guitar.

If you want one, you gotta search hard. And if you're tired of waiting like I was, you have to build your own. Will be sevenstring version I will call the 540PVII. ;

or, the shape is too different from their current computer routing templates. Ibanez would never invest the money into it.

I had one back in the day. I regret selling that one. I used to work at a pawn shop and I bought for what the store had in it - $200 bucks! I sold it in 1995 like an idiot!

Me too. But I feel Jemmm is correct -- it won't sell (too many people have no taste).

Re: bring back the 540P-II

IMHO, I think if Ibanez decided to do a reissue, it should be the 770DX, albeit with a reverse headstock. Think about it...

Classic RG body
Original Wizard neck
Colour matched inlays, pick ups and (reverse) headstock
Maple board
Binding to neck and headstock
Lo Pro Edge

If they did this in a few colour options, and of course the obligatory black for the masses, there would be something for everyone...

All those in favour, raise your hands!

I never cared for the lower horn on those but still a cool guitar nonetheless, Nuno, that is a nice one you have.

House of Guitars in Rochester had one for years - red, mint just sitting there. I passed on it every time until I realized how cool it was. Went back to get it after three years of seeing it...

Gone.

I'd kill for a 24 fret PII
