Can this be a new Ibanez model?

dear friends,

i recently browsed through a copy of Guitar World mag (that issue with Tom Morello on the cover), there's this article featuring the band Taproot. i understand that one of them is an endorser & he sports his custom AX- fine. but the other guy has a strange ibanez- one with an SC neck & a single cutaway body- very interesting this one... i wonder if it's a new model or something...

apologies for not supplying a pic- i had since stopped buying Guitar World...

I saw that, too! I flipped past the page, and then promptly did a double-take and flipped back once the S-Classic headstock registered in my brain. That's a sweet single-cutaway body shape... almost a single-cut version of the Artist. I do hope that's a new model.

Probably not. That would be too cool.

I'd buy it if it were a new model.

I know for a fact that all of Mikes AX"s are baritones. Since the singer also tunes down to A it wouldnt surprise me if that guitar is a baritone too. But like Mike's it only has a single humbucker and typically wouldn't suit being a production model unless they added a neck bucker. But that doesn't mean we wont see it. There's just not a very good chance.

i'm just being too hopeful- but it'd be good to see this model off the shelf, i'm now more comfortable with shorter scale necks (blame it on my LP + PRS), i had tried an SC model before & the 25.1" neck is very playable.

...then the Tremonti SE would have a very ligitimate competitor...
