And I don't think that Dave has really stopped the members contributing to the band, I mean, look at Marty Friedman, his style made him my favourite Deth guitarist and he's the reason my favourite era is the Friedman era.
Though knowing Broderick's skill and past stuff there is a chance he could replace him in my opinions if he goes the right way about it.
oh yes I know about this "new album" coming out (which will be an even MORE tired version of the same music again). i for one wont be purchasing anything made by christian dave.

Hey Corey, where did ya read about that?
This isn't going to be detrimental to Broderick's ability to bring something to the band. If there's no use of the low B in Megadeth, then he doesn't need a 7-string, and I see where he's coming from with the low E attack.

I love megadeth. I love mustaines riffs and lyrics. I hate his solos. But the dude runs off ever good guitarist he gets. God, Friedman was a BEAST.

I mean, he'd need an RGA with a trem, without a locking nut.
What are the odds that they'll actually make that as a production model?
I doubt half of the mainstream players out there would want a trem and no locking nut, or even manage to use a trem with no locking nut well.

Unfortunately I don't see Ibanez getting enough sales on a Broderick sig, in a similar manner to people wanting a Dave Weiner sig (though now that Broderick's in Megadeth there may be a bit more demand for a Chris Broderick sig.)
I'd definately go for the Broderick sig, a 7 string with a maple top? I'd buy one today. I definately don't like the non-locking nut although I'd end up blocking the trem just to avoid the urge to mess around and end up tuning every half hour.

+1

Fact.

I agree completely although I don't hate Dave's solo's, I just respect them for being kind of all out bawls to the wall.. (a nice way to say "kind of sloppy") but i mean that is the Mustaine approach.

But Friedman was most certainly a beast and added a very cool sound or kind of mystique to the sound of the group hands down. A very technical guitarist but with lots of expression and feeling. I loved his sound growing up. with that in mind its easy or at least easier to think you hate Dave's solos comparatively when they two take turns soloing on songs together.

I'll miss Marty none the less, but having watched several Broderick vids now, a few of them being Friedman solos he has played live, I am more than confident and can play Marty with ease, I just don't expect hearing that "mystique" on the new material. That sound is rusting in peace now.

this is strange seeing as how the new 2009 catalog shows him on page nine for RGT's!
