Considering getting a Ibanez Guitar...
I'm considering getting the Ibanez RG570. I heard it's good, but unfortunately I can't play one because my local guitar store doesn't carry them. I have an ESP LTD MH-201 isn't too bad. I was looking at the RG570 because a friend of mine said it's sort of similar to a JEM model. Also is the bridge on the RG570 better than the other models? Isn't the Edge on the RG570? Any good? And the colors....I'm not a big fan of Root Beer and Grey nickel. Is there other colors I can choose from? What do you think? Help appreciated. Thanks...my first post too.

Welcome to the forum, if you do some looking, you can find threads on the RG's vs Jems debate. They are similar in some respects. The RG5XX series and higher are great guitars, they come with
edge trems
, or lo-
pro edge trems
, and are so much more than a mid level guitar. I'm not sure about current colors, but there are always tons of used ones to chose from as well, for really good prices, I of course recommend getting at least one Ibanez

Welcome!
A quick search of the forum will give you tons of info on the 570. It's been around for 15 years or so, so it's got a pretty good reputation for quality and versatility.
Pretty much everyone will unanimously agree that the Edge and Lo
Pro Edge
are the finest double-locking Floyd-licensed tremolos out there. The overall build quality of the 570 is quite good, but the JEM has an extra amount of hand finishing on the neck (and a slightly different neck profile) that sets it apart from the more run-of-the-mill production models like the 570. The JEM also has more "flash" if you're into that sort of thing.
As far as colour choices go, with a new 570, you only have the two options in North America. Other colours may be available in other markets (like Cosmic Blue in the UK). Your only other option is to look for a used one. They've had some really great colours over the years, but generally only for 1- or 2-year runs.

i should be getting the rg 570 tomorrow. i don't think its worth the extra money for the jem, but if you have the money why not. yeah, i don't really like the colors either but i can live with it. i prefer the root beer metallic over gray nickel cause the gray nickel will just look dumb after a while and you'll think what the hell was i thinking. i don't know how old you are, but i'm 15 and i know when i'm 20 i really won't like that color.

Really? I'd take the metallic silver-grey over metallic brown almost any day.
But then, i'm not 15.

The RG5XX's are great guitars. I've had my RG550 for 13 years and I still love it. Ibanez makes great guitars, and I'd so buy them any day over other guitars. I like Fenders too, but that's another story for another day. =D
I'm sure you'll love the RG570 too.

Good luck stratman, be sure and tell us how you like it. I think I would've picked the rootbeer metallic over the gray nickel, too.

got the rg 570 today, in gray nickel. the root beer metallic look a lot different than in the pictures, its really ugly. the thing plays great, but my only complaint is that i had to put another spring in the back or else the
tremolo angle
wouldn't have setup right
. i liked the tremolo a lot better when it wasn't so stiff. maybe i can get it setup so that i won't need another spring
maybe they'll have to drill the holes farther and put longer screws in, that all they would have to do. i don't understand why the didn't just do that in the first place.

i looked on sites on floyd roses and i guess its not just ibanez, on other companies you have to add the 4th spring too. is that the only way to set it up with 10's is to add a fourth spring?

i had to add a 4th spring to my RG550 to use 10's, and I'm tuned down to E-flat, so i guess that's normal.

You can use 3 springs - you just have to screw the claw in a little further so the
trem plate
is parallel with the body. If they won't go in any more, yeah- drill the holes a little deeper or use slightly shorter screws.

How does the rg570 play stratman? Did you have any problems buying it?

it plays pretty damn good. i did have a problem buying it though. at
sam ash
they said they don't take prices (to beat) from ******** because they've heard bad things about them at that they sell 2nds which is a bunch of bull. so i ended up going to guitar center, they had one left and was beat up, so the guy there called another guitar center about a half hour away and we went there and got it. the case(uv1000c) and the guitar in gray nickel for 500 plus tax. they are discontinuing the gray nickel(the guy at guitar center said i couldn't just order one becasue they were)i could have waited for another better color but it could be worse and it woun't be worth 200 more bucks.
i don't know why everyone says the pickups are bad, i think there pretty good, not great, but good. i can probably get the knife edges sharpened(since they're flat) under warranty, theres a place by me thats a certified warranty repair place for most guitar brands. they can probably set the tremolo up to with 3 springs but that probably won't go under warranty, but since he has to take the tremolo off to sharpen anyway, why not
