Current RG1527 users...need your help!

To all of you RG1527 owners out there, I'm seriously considering purchasing the RG1527RB. I own a couple of Ibby's now, and a few other guitars, and I want to add a very serviceable and reasonably versatile 7 to my lineup. I've considered the S, but it's only got 22 frets. Again, I want versatility.

So, keeping all this in mind, how would you all rate the 1527? Is it a good value for the money (around $900us at this point)? I own a 2000 RG570GN; how does the quality and overall playability of the 7 stack up against my beloved 570?
I know, I've looked at the stats...I understand what the guitar is made of, but what I'm asking is from your personal experience...is the 1527 worth it in the long run?

Thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide...

Edit: oops...meant to put this in the 7thread, obviously. Mods, a little love, please?

I've had a 1527 for about a year now, and man oh man is it awesome, I get shivers just thinking about it. Most people who play it love it, but the stock pickups aren't so nice, so that's a consideration. But apart from that it is a truly awesome guitar

Taking the plunge...I'm ordering my RG1527RB today.
My Sweetwater guy is getting one "fresh off the line" from Ibanez.
Can't wait!
I played a new/used one two or three weeks ago at a shop, and as anticipated, it plays more or less exactly like my RG570 (except, you know, with a seventh string). The one I played was set up REALLY BADLY (this was one of those well worn "new" wall-hangers at GC, naturally), and they wanted $900 for it, but no case, and like I said, the setup was crap and there were finger smudges and little circle pick scratches all over it.

I'm not a big fan of buying guitars essentially "sight unseen", but in this case, I don't think I can really go wrong.

For $900 new it should come with a case! I can't stand it when retailers pull such shenanegans. Try mu$ishnin's friend or scam ash They should give you the same thing for the same price with a case.

LOL! Funny! The board blocks the names of retailers who already advertize here.

Then again, I suppose it's hard to argue the relative merits and/or flaws of an RG1527 with a guy called JohnnyRG1527, innit?

I feel pretty good about my choice. I'll evaluate the pups; I've heard a lot of people say they're not super happy with the stock pups, but I'm going to give them a fair shot. I'll replace them with some dimarzio or other if the need presents itself. Not without a lot of play testing, though.

RG 1527 is awesome in my opinion! I recently bought a different brand of 7 to try something other than Ibanez, only because I have always played them and thought a change might be nice... I am now regretting the decision and will be getting rid of the unnamed and buying an Ibanez!!

I've got this guitar. I was playing a 7620 until I picked up this 1527 used off of someone here for $600. It was brand new. He hadn't played it but just a couple of times and put it away. When I got it it still had the plastic on it.

It still has the stock pickups in it. Personally, I think they sound great. I've got no complaints about it. I might put some Blazes in there eventually, but I'm in no hurry really. It sounds great just as it is.

Everything else about it is top quality. It'll be hard putting it down once you start playing it. I haven't even looked at my 7620 in months.

Yeah it's difficult to put it down, i rarely play my other ibby really, and thats only because its in drop C, although it feels like a toy picking a sixer up after playing on the 7!

Well, it's official...my order has been placed (through Sweetwater, naturally).
Can't wait to get it!

My only "regret" (if you can call it that) is that it's only available in RB. Don't get me wrong...it's pretty...but I wish it could have been some other color.

Ibby, take note. Once again, your faithful flock are bleating to you for more options!

yeah i know, it used to come in a metallic black in the uk as far as i know and when i ordered mine thats what i was expecting (although not keen on black guitars as they scratch so easily) so when it turned up in royal blue i was more than happy

The 1527s are absolutely awesome. I have a 7421 currently but I'm saving for a 1527. The pickups aren't the best but they are still pretty good.

Though the 2027x is a little better. But they're are harder to find and almost always go for quite a hefty pricetag. Thier is nearly a cultlike love for them.
