Custom RG470 in progress

Hey dudes, I posted a couple months about buying/applying a veneer. I've had some free time to really start putting the finishing touches (literally) on it. These are taken right after the second coat of Laquer, they make it look way better than it does in person It was a really fun process, and this guitar will be with me for a long time!

I just wish I could find a maple AANJ neck that isn't $200-$300

One question for you guys though, Gold or Black hardware?

Very nice man, looks great

IMO, gold would look good but after time it starts to wear so go with black

That looks awesome!

Where did you find the veneer? (I looked at Brian Calvert's and was curious if his may be too thin).

I would go with the black hardware also.

Thanks

I bought from Brian Calvert at Universal Jems, I'd say perfect size for a project. I'd be nice to have something an half inch or so thick, but then you'd have to do a whole lot of routing for the pickups and trem! The veneer is about 1/32" thick. Brian gives you more than enough for a surface, I might use the rest on the headstock if I can't trade for a better neck. I also followed his guide on how to apply it LINK 1, LINK 2. When you go to sand before finishing, use about 200-300 grit, but don't go overboard on it.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I guess I'm sticking with the black hardware!
