custon rg3exqm1

its taken me over a year to actually buy all the parts; it wasnt a top priotity...but, now im almost done, basically i swapped all the hardware out for gold/solid brass schaller and gotoh parts that i bought from stewmac.com. and i replaced the pickups with surprisingly excellent pickups from guitarfetish.com...i highly suggest giving their pickups a try(im saying this after only trying out 2 models)

gotoh tuners, the same model that is found on most prestige's...theyre a lot better than the stock ones ...oh and i do plan on getting a replacement truss rod cover in white, and im currently working on a blank nut in white.

the neck pickup is a dream 180, and the bridge is a hot rails. the bridge pickup is hot, really hot, harmonics/squelies/ pinch harmonics/etc, are brutal on this,

the neck pickup is real twangy, almost sounds like a tele, except its 'hotter' only basing that off of my friends tele with the aftermarket fender pups...either way, this pickup sounds so creamy and chimey, it sounds nice even on high gain, though i prefer its single note capabilities over its chords, and palm muting on this pickup sounds kinda muddy, but ok...

i like that i can go from brutal metal tones to bluesy clean/overdriven stuff.

this pic is a pretty good representation of the color, in the other pics the color is a bit washed out...wonder what site that is?

what do you all think?

oh and i apologize, i just read over this and it sounds dumb, lol, ive been up all day and only finished setting this guitar up about an hour ago. ...im goin to sleep

Because it's supposed to look expensive but often ends up looking trashy and trailer park. Gold is something I associate with tackiness, and those who wear gold jewellry appear to want to do so to impress other people, like saying "Look how successful I am! Please like me!"...

Re: custon rg3exqm1

i personally think some zebra pickups would set that beauty off. i love gold hardware. i do agree that alot of the time it's tacky, but tastefully done...smokin'!!! you did a great good. the rg3ex is one of my favorite budget ibanez's.

i was thinking maybe cream on the bridge pickup but i dont remember if they had a creme option, oh well, the white matches the strap and the inlays and soon the truss rod cover...my friend calls this guitar the phoenix, so i think thats what ill call this guitar

Re: custon rg3exqm1

I'm tempted to put creme pickup rings on mine with some brass pickup covers; go further with that whole "RG that looks like an LP" thing.
Something about this guitar just gives it that hybrid old/new look. Or maybe its all subliminal from seeing a lot of PRS adds. PRS's are nice, but they're too damned expensive, especially to be players IMO.
Also, it's cool the RG3 is the lightest guitar in the arsenal. A very fun guitar!
Yours is very nice! The color scheme reminds me of Slash's LP.
How about a full pick of the whole guitar?
Kampai!

Re: custon rg3exqm1

i only recently actually finished the guitar, like two weeks ago i finally got it all squared away(only thing is i left it without a truss rod cover and think it looks fine)

well i dont have a good camera, i tried taking full body pics of the guitar and all the pics suck....

but luckily my band had a gig, and a few people recorded some video...kinda gives me a chance to promote my band but also display my guitar(you can see it pretty decently in this video)
