Difference between RG550 and RG565? And other RGs

GREETINGS FELLOW IBANEZ ENTHUSIASTS

I'm planning on buying a new Ibanez, an RG. My friend recommends that I get an RG550 but I see that there's other RGs like 565 as well as others. Anyone know what the difference is between them?

The differences are mostly in the pickup configurations.

RG550 pickguard with HSH pickups.
RG565 (no pickguard), humbucker at the bridge and a single coil at the neck, and it has a reverse headstock. Inlays are dots colored same as the guitar's finish, fretboards are always maple on these (I think).
RG560 (no pickguard), humbucker at the bridge, middle single, neck single.
RG570 (no pickguard), same as RG550 otherwise with HSH pickups.

Then you have the RG750, RG760 and RG770 which are the same guitars as the ones I mentioned but with cooler cosmetics (i.e. RG770 has fancy sharktooth inlay and binding along the neck, otherwise it's the same as the RG570).

besides that specification differences, you must consider :
565 humbucker is more powerfull than the humbucker on the 550 (V2/ V.
565 single coil in neck postion is yummy, and hard to find newer Ibanez guitars with single coil in the neck postion nowdays.

550 is very common, very good guitar if this would be your very first ibanez.

but if I were you, and I have to choose between those two? i will take 565 anyday.

If you have a choice between a 550 and a 565, get the 565.

difference between 550 & 565 = 15 sorry, I'm a sucker for a (extremely) dumb joke. I agree, between 550 & 565, I'd take the 565 too. Though nothing wrong with a 550, especially in RFR. Though I'm getting one of the new 770dxlb, very cool too. If it's an ibby made in japan, you really can't go wrong regardless of model.

I'd say the most important thing is to decide what tones you'll want and whether you like a pickguard or not. An RG500 series is a great chasis to work on and readily accepts a few cosmetic upgrades and new pickups.

The RG565 is considered the "coolest" of the bunch and the RG550 the "workhorse".

It might sound a stupid idea but I'd say get whichever one you like the look of best, as all other features are about the same

That doesn't sound stupid at all. I remember reading something, I think it was a guide on how to choose a guitar from Guitar Center of all places. Anyhoo... in it is said to choose a guitar you like to look at, because if you get a guitar you don't like to look at , you may not be inspired to pick it up and play it. Of course playability & sound are important, but if it's ugly, like a woman, you won't want to touch it often. Get a pretty guitar, like a woman, & your hands will be all over it often. Unlike a woman though, the guitar will never say no or tell you to get your hands of it.

Actually, when you say the difference in math it means you should devide so the difference between 550 and 565 is 0.97345132743362831858407079646018.

Is this some kind of "new math"? Because I was always taught that "difference" is found through subtraction...hehehe.
