direct lo-TRS replacement ?

hi !

the bridge of my japanese RG470 is pretty dead ! it's a japanese lo TRS made by takeuchi in 2001 =D

so , what bridges are direct replacement for it ? i don't want to route my guitar , i just want to replace this old crap with a new one .

oh , and i want of course a playable guitar after replacing the bridge ! good intonation , smooth playing ... you know , i love my RG470 to ****ing death ...

sorry if the question has been asked thousand times ... thx in advance

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

oops ! i just forgot to say i don't care about the brand ...

is a lo-TRS II a good replacement for my old lo TRS ?

because if it is ... yaw , it will be new , i could have it in gold ...

(yeah , on a black guitar , will be a bit funky but , yeah ... it will give more of derelique attitude to my guitar)

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

original floyd rose drops right in! you will need to shim the saddles to match the radius, allparts has shims for $10 and if you get a floyd rose "the key" life is 100x easier with a floyd.

and a lo-trs ii is even WORSE than a lo-trs which isn't all THAT bad. stay far far away from lo-trs ii and even further away from an edge iii.

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

wow , i can drop an OFR directly on my cherished guitar ?

that's really cool ... so the OFR has the same stud spacing ?? and ... since i don't mod my guitar i hope intonation will be pretty good after adjusting it ? i believe there's no problem here ...

oh , and i'll check the shims on allparts ! thx !

oh , gotoh ?? same stud spacing or ... ? (i have bad english and i assume stud means that pair of little adjustable screws holding the "block" ) and what about intonation ?

huh , i'm stupid ...

http://www.jemsite.com/jem/trems.htm

"Best Choice Option - If you have a TRS/TRS-II equipped Ibanez guitar, you can install the Floyd Rose Original/Pro without any modifications to your guitar. That is the easiest and best alternate."

cool !

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

yea it's sweet. i dropped a floyd in a lo-trs route. there's a little more spacing around the floyd (like between the walls of the route and the floyd) but i didn't have to do much intonating, only matching the radius.

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

as a rule of thumb, ANY Floyd licensed trems drops right into TRS/LoTRS/LoTRS-II cavity with no routing mods, as the TRS-style trem is way bigger than any of those. and so is the trem block.

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

cool ! i think OFR is the real deal

you know , sturdy floyd rose , screaming dimarzios w/ groovy colors and funky pots , here's the deal : my very own signature shred machine ... ya know i'm giving guitar lessons and working on some zappa-influenced shred band and i'd love my beloved guitar to scream even more !!

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

I have an RG470.
I have replaced the TRS with an OFR Pro. Had to route a deeper cavity and enlarge it a bit on the bottom.

Reccomend it!

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

Have you tried it? Easiest way to find out!

They can usually fit, but sometimes the cavity needs some coercing to fit. Nothing some sandpaper wont sort out.

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

If it's an early MIJ 470--yes, as those came stock with an Edge. If not, then you have a little routing to do:
http://projectguitar.com/tut/trs2lopro.htm

It's an easy job, and can be done with a Dremel.

Re: direct lo-TRS replacement ?

It's a 1999 RG470, pics the seller posted weren't really good, but it definitly has a TRS trem, and I think it's new penny finish.
