Do all white guitars change color over time?

hi all!

I was wondering, do all white guitars change color over time? I have a white Bently acoutic guitar (10 years old) and it has turned from a brilliant white to an almost flat ugly yellow/white =( It looks awful now.

I like the color white on RG bodies, and was wondering if white RG's will have the same color change over time?

Thanks =)

I think white guitars with laquer will yellow with time. RG's with Poly will probably not. Or not as much anyway.

The nitrocellulose lacquers will yellow over time but I don't think that is used much these days (not sure). A lot of guitars are done with poly (automotive) paints these days and have clear coat over them so they won't turn yellow. Ever seen a white car that turned yellow?

Depends.....most all whites will yellow, even with a clear top coat, as the top coat can also yellow. In most cases, the way around that is to add a small amount of blue.

Looking at it, Paul Gilberts PGM300 has been around the block a few times and his still appears to be white, so I guess it's down to the finish isn't it?

Ibanez introduced a white finish that doesn't turn yellow on the 7VWH. I'd think Ibanez uses that paint on every white guitar.
