Does anyone else do this? :]

I broke a string and decided to document how to salvage it if you have a floyd. I know I can't be the only one who does this when new string's aren't available.

plus you get to see a nice AANJ RG550DY in good condition :]

no its not for sale

I would hate to have to put on a new string every time I broke one, that's for sure. I bet there's a few purists among us who wouldn't do it though!

That's a beautiful 550DY you have there, btw. Looks in great condition. Did you take the video down?

Usually when I break strings I know it's time to change them. Sometimes I change them before they break once they get dead. But this time I didn't have any extra packs around and I couldn't go buy one so I decided to enact the string salvaging feature

Thanks for the complements I love my guitar so much haha. It's a 98 550DY all original. AANJ! I don't know if it's weird or not but I have nightmares of my 550 getting broken all the time haha I also have a 2001 RG520QS in transparent blue with emg 81/85's in it... I play it a lot as well but my 550 just feels so great... its like home...

I didn't take the video down but i've noticed that it doesn't play sometimes you can try accessing it from my profile on youtube

or the direct link

I'm not sure why youtube is acting up.... maybe someone else can chime in about it?

Thanks Mike. It's my girlfriend who wants to see the DY. We both have an appreciation for them. I am expecting a 550 Road Flare soon (the RG 20th) and the wait is killing me. I used to have an original from 1987 and I miss it, so here I go with a huge trip down memory lane!

Cheers again.

Hahaha thats awesome man! Gotta love them! Funny you should mention GF... Mine just bought a 93 RG550 in laser blue, her first guitar (from the bay) she should be recieving it sometime next week she paid 460 for it and it has a lo-pro and mirror blue pickguard on it. I wouldn't mind having a 20th but geez they're like 899... I dont know if i'd get one in RFR or DY again haha... double dy would be awesome to see on my guitar stand...

No idea why Youtube is acting up, nor can I watch this since work blocks all sites with streaming media, but I would like to know what you're talking about. lol Damn work!

On a side note, Evo, eclipse or Galant VR4?
