Early X-maxx?

Added Maxxas MX-2 FB to my Maxxas MX-3 today.

It needs a proper cleaning & set-up and has few blemishes on the body......

but it's so cool to finally add her to my collection. ;-)

That's awesome man, Maxxas' rock. They were so ahead of their time, and now, I wish Ibanez would bring them back as special order guitars.

Congratulations!

There's always someone...... :^)

It's a pretty long stretch to say they are the ugliest Ibanez, when you think back to such gems as the Ibanez MIDI guitar........

Wasn't the Maxxas the precursor to the Sabre?

I think the Maxxas is an acquired taste.

At first I didn't like'm either....too pointy, too round......ugly headstock.

But the more I read about it, the more I was intrigued.

The more I got intrigued, the more I wanted one.

The more I wanted one.....the harder they were to come by.

Now I have two in my collection and I couldn't be more happy.

Somewhere read on the net that MX2 would have basswood body. Looking at my MX-2 I have to correct these statements as body is solid Mahogany. Also funny to see my MX-2 not to have a recessed control cover plate. it's almost like Ibanez did some further development on the MX-3.

In Europe expect to pay anywhere between 400-600 Euro's. But value or price is not really the issue......finding one for sale and actually buying one is completely different matter.

Re: Early X-maxx?

They never did well, they are quasi hideous to look at, although i would definitely own one. They have a look kind of like gumby like they were never fully realized. Its like the red headed girl with the big nose, everybody wants to do her, but no one will date her.

Try playing one. They sound and feel great. I also like the look -- much better in person, but great in pics too. Damn cool guitar.

Thanks. I'll get one some day. Should have bought one when they were available. I'd take an MX-3 for the chambered body.

Are the silly points at the front horns not visible in person?

Re: Early X-maxx?

Heh. As I said, I like the design, there's nothing particularly silly about it, IMO. Damn, when I think of some of the uglier guitars around, there are so many hideous ones. The Maxxas definitely doesn't make that list.

Re: Early X-maxx?

If I only could get my hands on a MX4 or MX5.

Never seen even a picture of it, besides the Ibanez catalog pictures.

Cause there is always room for one more Maxxas.
