I'm not convinced that the Edge 3 is even available in gold, actually.

Re: Edge 3

Just buy a gold edge pro. The edge III sucks, the knife edges on my edge III died in a few weeks. I have had my edge pro for a few months now, and it stay in tune. It is also a drop in replacement (no rerouting whatsoever).

The collar on an Original Floyd Rose doesn't get loose. The tolerances are much tighter than on a licensed copy which is what you're prolly thinking about, Mason. Also, they 'flutter' like a m'fer if you like that type of thing.

they just look big, fat and ugly, i love the edge's sleek design, ive seen many videos of van halen and his hammy bar looks hella loose

Re: Edge 3

You can set the looseness of the bar on the fly with Floyd's. So he just happens to like his bar loose.

OFR holders take wear a lot better than Edges do. Can't really say about Edge III's but I'm pretty sure they're the same thing.

I've not seen an Edge III in gold (not that one doesn't exist) but you're looking for an inferior replacement bridge compared to what is available in a gold finish. BTW, the OFR is not ugly, it's a beautiful, sturdy and yet articulate piece of hardware that makes most other bridges (*definitely* the Edge III but not necessarily the Original Edge or it's successors) seem like mere toys in comparison.

will a OFR fit right into the space an edge 3 leaves? or will i have to do anything with studs etc?
