Edge Pro or OFR?

Hey guys,
Just picked up an 07 RG4EX1 on the bay for a great price and I'm in the process of bringing it up to snuff. Plays great, sounds amazing with the EMG's I dropped in, and even though the edge III that it came with is in mint condition and has no stability issues, I'm not interested in keeping it on what will ultimately be my main guitar. I have plenty of experience with OFR's, and I love them...I have a late 90's 270dx with an OFR and to this day the thing is flawless. However, I don't know a damn thing about the edge pro, other than it's really my only other choice for a router-less retrofit, and it's pretty highly regarded by most players. Which do you prefer?

EDIT: I'm also pretty fluent with a dremel, so if light modification is required to retrofit a different bridge, such as the gotoh or schaller, let me know what you think.

Re: Edge Pro or OFR?

I'm not sure if the OFR will be better but I have had my JS1000 with an Edge Pro since the start of the year and it is rock solid, although I did have Rich do the locking studs mod which apparently helps the stability. Never goes out of tune even with excessive whammy shenanigans!

I vote the edge pro. Iīm not sure if you donīt need to route the guitar to swamp in the OFR because it has the dimensions of the Lo-Trs/Lo-Trs II which are different form the edge III. If you have to route choose tghe edge pro.

I have guitars with each - an RG1527 with Edge Pro and a Peavey Predator TR7 with OFR. Love them both, no problems with either.

Re: Edge Pro or OFR?

I've always prefered the OFR to the Edge Pro.

An OFR will sound brighter due to the hardened steel, as opposed to the softer sound of the cast steel of the Edge systems. The OFR also tends to flutter alot more.

I go to EP, looks, comfort, ease of use and the tuning is about the same as the OFR, better or worse I don't know.

Floyd Rose II is the cheap and horrible version of the OFR (Original Floyd Rose)
