The fist would be an early 70's wine red Gbison LP Custom my guitar teacher had, absolutely the most solid guitar ever. Great action, great sound, amazing overall feel. The second would be a 1990 UV7PWH, it has been played over the years and feels absolutely perfect, has the original edge which adds something to it that no other UV I've played has. I think that it all comes down to a specific guitar, not just a specific model. There are always alot of quality variations within a run of guitars and I think that the hand-picked ones of the lot always end up getting played and worn quickly. I say this because every "great" guitar I've played has had a substantial amount of player wear (that 70s LP had like 1/3 of the paint missing and 2 refrets). There is something about the feeling of a broken in guitar that makes it fit like a glove .

...

Of course I love my own, but a friend of mine has a 10+ year old RG550 that has the best neck ever. It seems thinner than the wizard should be. Perhaps all the years of heavy playing have smoothed it out or something. It also has the old Ibanez pickups that are pretty nice.

Another friend has a Clapton signature Strat that also has a strange "play me!" kinda feeling to it. Even though I love Ibanez, I still got a little something for those ol' Strats...

The best guitar I ever owned was a 1968 Gibson Trini Lopez model. You could just stare at it and it would start to sustain...lol It had a non-traditional six-on-one-side strat style headstock and diamond shaped neck inlays. The body was a 335 shape with diamond shaped F holes, cherry red with visible wood grain...really sweet...damn do I miss her. The best player ever...nothing has come close since then, and that was over 10 years ago.
