Well, finally after months and months it's here! My RFR RG550 20th Anniversary.
I put my name down for a RFR one back in December last year, before they were even officially announced. When we got back from out honeymoon at the start of April I had the money waiting for it. Then we needed to buy a house as we were having to move out of our rental. The money soon went in to the house, and the week we were moving at the start of June in I finally got the call from my local store (Better Music) that the guitar was finally in.
After umming and ahhhing I wasn't sure if I could afford it. I told my wife that if we couldn't really afford to get it with the new house and all that I would cancel my order. She told me that I've been waiting too long for it, and she understood that it would be hard for me to get another one later. She said go for it and we'll pay it off.
The guys at Better Music were awesome and told me that if it was going to take as long as it takes to pay off they were fine with it. I put down a small amount of money to laybuy it, and hoped I could pay it off.
Well a couple of months later we found out we were expecting! Exciting news, but again wasn't sure if we could still afford to pay off the guitar as we wanted to save money so my wife could take some time off. She had just started a new job that didn't have paid maternity leave. She said it was still fine so I kept plugging away at the payments when we had some spare cash.
Last month she was fired from the job pretty much because she was pregnant. I was ready again to throw in the towel but she said again to keep going, just hold off any payments. It was so close to being paid off. She got herself a contract fairly quickly, and so this week we got a really good amount of money from pay after a hellish one, and she told me just to go pay it out, so we did!
