Finished Customising my S520EX :)

Guys!
I have finally finished upgrading my axe!!!

It was a 2002 S520EX guitar... and well, now its kind of custom... check it out!

To FINALLY, this!

Here are the things changed, from top to bottom.
1) Tuners upgraded to Gotoh Delta series tuners
2) Original Edge bridge replaced with Gotoh Licensed Floyd Rose
3) Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell and Tonezone in neck and bridge
4) 5-way switch replaced with 3-way switch.
5) Input jack replaced with stereo Switchcraft jack
6) 2 on-on mini toggles for coil split and phase (bridge)
7) Tone pot replaced with a Varitone switch

Well, none of the hardware is stock anymore, except the frets...which I expect will have to go soon, in about a year's time.

I'm happy!

Very nice.

I love to see people customize their personal instruments, I've done a couple of mods on my guitars as well. Some people call me blasphemous but I'm the one who has to play it

Nice pickup combination, kinda sounds like what PG had on his older PGMs. How much did the mods cost you to get done?

Hey Chris, I think... the mods cost me a nice 800 - 900 SGD. About the price of the guitar itself!

Well, the guitar came with this Antique Silver hardware finish, its like the Cosmo finish... It wore off really quick and before I knew it, it was skin on steel. Then after a year, the steel started to bubble.

To cut a long story short, there was nothing wrong, performance wise, with the Edge, just that it was looking really bad and to get a brand new Edge would cost me a whopping 400SGD.

The Gotoh cost me 220SGD, has better sustain and harmonics ring out clearer than the Edge. However, I do miss the Edge's feel... much smoother.

IMO, Gotoh rules.
But i think you need a white TZ to match.

Nice! I was wondering if your bridge pup is a seymor duncan. In the pick that's what it looks like but you say it's a Tonezone?

Well, its just a Tonezone with a nickle cover.... I like the extra warmth the cover gives (it was just a black pup at first) but it feedbacks a bit now... bearable though!

Very nice guitar! I always liked the finish on that model. That black texture finish I always thought was cool.

yeah that finsish is SUPER sweet. looks like the leather finished 7 munky from korn has, i know you all have probably seen it.

I wonder where are the other owners of this model... I know there were only 2 S520EX guitars in Singapore...and the other owner converted his S into a 7 stringer!

As i remember gotoh actually did the design and building for the edge tremolo system. Id really like to know who did the design on that.

yes sir a leather finished guitar. been his main axe since 2003 and he's still using it. cancer symbol at 12th fret star offset inlays im sure you all have seen it. how do i post pics i have some great pics of it. the finsih is very similar on your guitar
