frets apparently are really soft?


so the other day i got pissed off and thew a blank cd away from my guitars but the wind took it and it nailed the fret board on my rg 350 ex now one of my frets has a bur in it, annoying as hell how can i fix it, and are they really that soft?

Ah man, that sucks... I don't know if there's a fix for that short of re-fretting that fret. I'm not sure how much that would cost, might be cheaper just to get another neck and then get the other fixed to keep as a spare.

Maybe some members will have an idea or two

Non MIJ model guitars do have a softer metal for frets. You can't just get a fret level and polish to sort it out?

Wow, that sucks! Take it over to Joe Glaser (he's in Nashville, in case you don't know) and he will repair it for you.

Sadly they are really that soft. I'd look into getting a stainless steel refret, since they last practically forever. Brings out a little more top end in the guitar too apparently.

A bandmate of mine dropped plyers on my rg550 once and i got a burr on the 15th.


I took some 0000 grade steel wool to it and it smoothed it right out. It wasn't a big burr mind. But enough to feel like a canyon when playing.
