Getting a 7321

I'm currently saving for an RG7321, then buying a D-sonic 7 for the bridge.

What is a good neck pickup for leads? (preferably DiMarzio )

I was thinking maybe a Blaze neck?

Just save the additional pickup money and get a 7621 instead. Trust me. My 7621 is the best player I have.

I can't just "get" a 7621...

It would have to be on the 'bay right around Christmas.

Also, I figured out I like the 400mmR on the RG7321 as opposed to the 430mmR on the Prestige and older RGs.

They're always on there.

But do what you like. If the absolute slightest of differences can make you choose an inferior guitar over a MIJ with DMs for the same price, go for it. Last 7321 neck I played was horrible compared to my 7621.

Basically. The neck is actually a custom job that's based on the Air Norton. It's extremely similar, though. And the bridge is a stock D-Sonic, as you said.

Awesome. I didn't remember if it was a tone zone or an air norton. Thanks.

Really? The last 7321 neck I played was amazing for a non prestige. Very silky rather than plasticy like my 370 or my American Strat.

Re: Getting a 7321

Yes, nice finish, but I'm talking about the actual neck itself, not the finish. I really hate binding though. That plastic crap just feels cheap to me.

Re: Getting a 7321

MIK arn't inferior to non prestige MIJ, especially this year, the QC has shot way up. I own a 1527 prestige and I've played a 7321 and I though it was quite nice (not as nice at my prestige but for a quarter of the price not a bad little axe =))

Also the 7321 has a better constructed neck than the 7621 because it has a 5 peice opposed to a 3 peice with a scarf joint (which is prone to cracks)

Hope this helped

Re: Getting a 7321

There are hundreds of people who'd disagree with you.

The Prestige tag is constantly being devalued. It doesn't make any difference.

On the contrary, I have two Japanese non-prestige necks here, and they both play MILES better than any modern Prestige I've played.

I'm afraid that's just not true. At all.

5 pieces is just skimping on costs. The 3 piece neck is one piece of maple all the way down, then another for the headstock joint, then a little bit on the end to make it wide enough for the Ibanez headstock.

You may as well say my S1520's neck is inferior, along with all older Jems'

7621s retailed at $999.

I have played both. The 7321's neck is vastly inferior.

And 'prone'...? You're suggesting cracks are regular occurences. Which they aren't. This one's nearly ten years old and the neck is mint.

'Slightly more likely under mistreatment' perhaps, but that's the price you pay for quality.
