Help I.D.-ing

Old old Ibanez model, haven't seen it, but described as 80s model guitar, vintage trem (they think), and 4 (four) humbuckers. Anyone? They think it's an RG, but they're not completely sure.

That's what I thought. I'm thinking either it's a custom job, or she's confused as to what a humbucker is. (i.e. 2 pickups X 2 coils each = 4 humbuckers )

Yep I'm thinking 4 coils rather than a cutom "Mr. Horsepower" copy

It might be something like an GRX40 which has a vintage trem, a vaguely RG ish shaped body and 4 coils ina humbucker and 2 singles. If there was a twin HB version of the GRX I'd almost be convinced it'd be one of those.

Or an RG120?

I dunno, she said it's her guitar teachers, and it's pretty high-end.

couldn't be a 4 hums guitar:
think to that lovely red custom El Pablo plays in Intense Rock II: she's got 3 humbuckers, from the neck right to the bridge. neither a single could be placed there, go figure a hum.

Nigel Tufnell's Mr Horsepower musicman has 4 humbuckers so it can and has been done.

Another possibility is that the guitar has been fitted with 4 single coil sized humbuckers. DiMarzio make the "Multi-Bucker" which has 2 humbuckers in the sam size housing as one standard humbucker.

However, I'd still bet on there being 4 coils in 2 humbuckers.

It could be a RT650, but that has a middle single as well. That was the only higher end Ibanez with a vintage style trem.

And even that wasn't that high end.
