Re: Help to identify a guitar.

Doesn't look like RG550 as output/input plug route is missing. It has Gotoh tuners, but some OFR type tremolo. Better pic of tremolo would help.

Seems like lower type RG with OFR later added????

Re: Help to identify a guitar.

well, it has a no sculpt joint like a 93 RG470, but I think it still came with a edge. But this thing is 22 fret as well..weird..

The neckplate may say made in Japan, but the serial number begins with "P". Meaning it came from the Peerless factory in Korea in 89'. The tremolo looks like a TRS-101 to me. --Jason

Re: Help to identify a guitar.

it looks like an early pre korean rg450. the 22 frets and the trs-101 are the giveaway. i don't think that it was a usa available production model.

It would be an early model RG350 or thereabouts.

Yeah, I noticed the same things as Jason. My best guess is that it's an upgraded non-US market guitar. I've had a couple of RG340s, and this has some similar characteristics - TRS-101 trem (although I think my RG340s had a TRT-1, which is about the same thing), MIK sticker on headstock (although those were both P7 numbers), 22 fret neck, the pickups, although generic, look similar. Here's the 1988 catalog for those - don't know if this helps or not:

Those came with sealed no-name tuners with the screw holes, too. So, it's entirely possible that the neck plate and tuners were swapped out at some point, I guess. But, who knows.

Also, very much agree with Brianxtr that we need more detailed pics.

Either way, it's kind of a cool guitar, a 22 fret RG550 style.

My $.02...
