The RG550 and RG570 differ only slightly, the hardware is the same, the pickups are the same and so on. The two big differences are the fingerboard woods, rosewood on the 570 and maple on the 550 and the ways in which the pickups are mounted. The 550 has the pickups mounted on a scratchplate like a Strat and the 570 has them mounted from the front with the humbuckers in mounting rings like on a Les Paul.
The EX versions of the guitars are basically just cosmetically enhanced versions with the 550 gaining a colour matched pickguard and a
rosewood fingerboard
, the 570 gains fancier
sharktooth inlays
and both guitars get different (metallic) paintjobs, and colour matched headstocks as well.

I believe he was referring to the RG550EX designation, not the EX series.

It's been a while since I've seen either of the EXs for real, so yes they probably do have the lo-pro
The Ibanez site doesn't state that they do in the specs, but the picture of the guitar looks like it does!!!

Since '02, both the 550 and 570 have the original edge. At least in europe.
In '01, both had the lo pro, except the 550BK.
Catalogues rule!!

Just want to chime in about the price.
$400 is a great price for a guitar that's made in Japan, has the best
floating tremolo
on the market, the All
Access Neck Joint
and very decent jeneric pickups (V7, V1 and V8 ).
You can't go wrong with that price and there's nothing better on the market at even twice the price (I'm talking about brand new guitars here
).
Go for it.
