I've often wondered... why do some of you guys own
so many
RGs? (My use of the term "RG" here is essentially a description of the body style... it includes JEMs, J-Custom RGs, Prestige RGs, JPMs, PGMs, UVs, K7s, etc.)
Are they
that different
from one another that it justifies having thousands and thousands of dollars invested in multiple versions of the same model? (Not to mention the acquisition/loss costs for those of you with high turnover in your collections.)
I love guitars... they're a passion for me, like most people here. But i want a lot of variety in my collection. I usually seek out guitars for a specific purpose, or to achieve a specific sound. I want one of every flavour, not just every variation of my favourite flavour.
Just curious, that's all.

Variety is the spice of life, right, Darren? ;-)
I collected before, went through a divorce, leading to the selling of my previous guitars. Now, I am starting again.....collecting.
My collection won't end with the "RG" models. I am looking into others, such as the Pat Methany model,
Les Paul
's and others. I simply love the RG line. They do sound different (to me).
Same with a lot of things in my life.....once I find something I like....why change it up.
Although, one can have steak everyday, but every once in a while, he has to go for that burger ;-)

Sometimes i like chicken, or pork, or lamb, or tofu.
Hamburger, steak, prime rib... they're all still beef.

Because the different woods and pickups sound different, you need different guitars for different tunings, backups, and a color for each suite you own, cause you gotta make it look good *laughs*. I own three rgs, because they play and sound well, and Im really used to the style, ones in D, the other e, and one tuned down half a step

Its also hard to resist a 770dlx at the pawnshop for 200.00 or a mint 570 for 175.00,someone has to rescue these guitars!
