How to pronounce "Ibanez"

My gf and I are debating how to pronounce "Ibanez".

She thinks it is "Ib-a-nay".
I say "I-ban-ez"

So, how is it officially pronounced? :P

I've heard Steve Vai say "eye" "buh" "nezz" (I can't do the fancy dictionary pronounciation characters) in interviews.

In the spanish language though it would be pronounced "i" (as in the word inn or it) "ban" yeth

So now you can really laugh at your girlfriend for the proposterous notion that Ibanez in any way would be a french name...

I've heard Vai, Satch, Gilbert, etc pronouncing it as Jono says.

However, the name is spanish and it is actually Ibáņez (don't know if your configurations will let you see the 'n'). It sounds something like e-BAH-gnez.

(with the 'gn' as in french)

Actually more like "ee-BAN-eth"...or in Latin America, "ee-BAN-ez"

This is also a great debate between me and my dad.
I say Eye bah nez, he says Ib a nez.
Seeing as it's a japanese company, who just adopted the name Ibanez to make their acoustics sound spanish and sell better, do you think the CEO and other big boys know how to pronounce it?

I think all the Japanese people sleep at this hour , or they might be just awake

In Holland we say EEE-ba-Ness, it has to do with our pronouncation of the I (as in sleep with just the ee's)

Well, here in old europe and old germany... we do it anyway you like

Some say ee-ba-nez (you have to pronounce the 'z' very hard!!!! acutally you have to pronounce the whole word very german )

others like the 'english' way eye ban-es (somtimes with 'th').

etc. etc. etc.
