How's the quality in Schecter?

If you haven't guessed im a lefty, duh, and Schecter seems to have a HUGE selection of leftys, including baritone and 7 strings (come on Ibanez, wake up). I was wondering if anyone here owns any or has played any, and how they might compare to Ibanez as far as the workmanship, sound and the necks. I'm used to playing on thin wizards (I have a 550 and a 470) and are there necks anything like them..I already know off the bat that i'm going to have to change the PU's to either Evo7's or 707's...

Right now i'm in the market for a nice hardtail and this one is seriously looking sweet..

I'm no authority on Schecters, but I DID play, I think, a C1, a while back, and found it to be quite stiff feeling. Kinda dissapointed me. Maybe others have had better experiences, and can chime in.

Re: How's the quality in Schecter?

I recently sold a C1 plus that I played for about a year. I payed about $550 for it new, and then upgraded the pickups to an Air Norton(b) and a Fred (n).Then I added Gibson pots because the stocks crapped out about after two months. The reason I bought the guitar was because I wanted a fixed bridge besides my other guitars that are all Ibanez with edges. The neck I really liked and it was alot thicker and just felt more comfortable to play. I started to use this guitar about 90% of the time and neglected my Ibanez's. Then I bought a UV and after about a week of playing the UV, I picked up the Schecter again and it felt like cheap plastic crap. The neck felt cheap and weak, and the craftsmanship seemed to just dwindle. Its weird, because everything I liked about the Schecter in the first place was basicaly lost after a week of playing my UV(777blk). After realizing I spent about $800 on a Schecter and could have just bought the damn UV in the first place I felt robbed. I sold the Schecter for $400 on the bay and lost a couple hundred. Since having the UV, I have sold all my other guitars besides a PGM30 that Im doin a project on. Im lookin at a PRS right now for a fixed bridge but the beast cost $1800. Ive been playin about 18 years (and still suck) but the higher end guitars are really seemin to be the answer. I spent alot of money upgrading and modding cheaper guitars and its just not worth the money. The PGM is my last guitar im gonna invest in cause the neck just rocks on it.

Im not sure, but maybe the 7620 comes in a lefty, someone on here will know. Its your best and most economical choice for a seven, but as far as a Schecter goes, I wouldnt spend the money on it. Has a really crappy resale value too on the 7's.

Re: How's the quality in Schecter?

there are no lefty 7 stings being made by ibanez right now..

What I was really interested in, and what brought my attention to Schecter, was the fact that i'm looking for a hardtail.
this is basically what I was looking at

Ibanez did the RG7421 as a lefty back in 2000/2001 I think or maybe it was 1999.

Re: How's the quality in Schecter?

It really depends on the Schecter. The Korean Schecters are better than the Indonesian ones. However, with the korean Schecters they're made by Cort and World Musical Instruments/Samick, out of the Korean Schecters you can pretty much tell which ones are made by Cort 'cause they're a lot better built.

(I should note: Schecter in Japan is owned by ESP. In the US Schecter and ESP are seperate companies though. Thier Korean made stuff do roll out of the same place at least for thier more expensive models)

Re: How's the quality in Schecter?

I have a Schecter Omen 7 string , and It's a great guitar . BUT I do love my Ibanez's much more. I got the Schector because I wanted to have a fixed bridge 7-string on hand, and Ibanez didn't have any that I liked at the time.

I'd still consider getting another Schecter someday, but if I do it would have a floyd, because I miss the trem whenever I play a fixed bridge.

I think the quality of craftsmenship is pretty good, the finish is flawless and it plays great. The neck is wider(on the Omen 7 string) than the neck on my UV, but I have big hands so it hasn't been a big issue.

Still I love my Ibanez's more.
