Save up and get something you really want. No sense spending what money you have on something just for the time being. Tax return season is right around the corner.

Hey, 565's are awesome, Glen! Very '80's metal. Of course, that's just my opinion.

A 550 or 570 is a great guitar. But, you need to swap out the pickups, once again, in my opinion. A 550 with good pickups is a great utilitarian guitar. I've got a 550 with a Air Norton in the neck and an Evolution in the bridge, and I can use that guitar for almost anything.

Part of it depends on what kind of music you want to play. Do you want a swiss army knife guitar, one that will do just about anything? Or, are you looking for a heavy metal machine? Or, are you a country chicken picker?

I didn't say SPEND the whole amount on it, GLEN! You are entitled to your opinion....even if it stinks.
I agree on the 550, as well. Best guitar I've ever owned. Just wish I still had it........

Carvin Bolt Plus. Lots of options, get a guitar just how you like it.

considering i owned the RG565, i think i'm entitled to comment on the lame-ness of it

Re: I have $750 to spend on a guitar and i dont know what to get.

Well, your best best bet is to get a used RG550 or 570 and change the pickups. That will keep you firmly under $1000, you'll have a great guitar that plays and sounds awesome, AND you should still have money left over for a cab. But if you want something new then you might want to look into the RG2xxx series.
