I just got my first RG used (RG565) and want to learn more.

I recently picked up an RG565CA used at a silent auction. it's in the shop right now having the pickup selector switch fixed. I miss it already Anyway I found a picture of it in the '92 catalog but it dosen't seem to apear any other year. I'm just sort of curious if thats the only year it was made and if so why?? and how does it stack up to the more note able RG's such as the 520 or 570 or a jem perhaps. This being my first Ibanez, I'm very impressed and wondering how much better can it get??

you've just purchased a pretty rare guitar. if you've looked on ebay at all, these guitars usually go for a pretty high price compared to other RG5XX's. congratulations on your purchase!

::green with envy::

WOW!
565? that's one of my fave guitars ever! congrats man!!! and welcome to Jemsite!

i think they were made in '91 and '92 years only, maybe even in '93.
it's the same ol' story: the best guitars die young. think to the P & PII series...

RG565CA

Hey guys!! Thanks for the warm welcome Thanks also for the info!! I was afraid that Ibanez may have stopped it's production due to some design problem that might haunt me later on. I'm very pleased to find out that is not the case. I probably shouldn't do this out of proper etiquette, but this little gem only cost me $160.00. The reason I'm so interested in finding out about it, is because I like it more than my Les Paul so I figured it had to be more than just another axe.. Any way, thanks guys

Wow... $160? What a steal!

1991/1992 were very good years for Ibanez. They had a lot of really amazing stuff around that time.

I love the finish on that baby!! (442RCS) I'm impressed!! Mine is a candy apple red that gets attention every time I pull it out of the case. Some one almost always says WOW that's RED!!!! But yours is very classy looking. [/u]

Congrats on youre amazing purchase and becoming one of the few 565 owners.I've got a black 565, and it still plays like new.
Even though these are hard to get hold of, I was wondering if some colors were more difficult to find than others? (For those who are not familiar there were only three colors produced).

Hey D!!! according to the Ibanez '92 catalog they came in LB(laser blue)EG(emerald green) and CA(candy apple) so I'd say that if you have a black one then it's probably pretty rare. I'm fairly new to Ibanez RG's so I can't really answer your question cause I can't find them in any other catalogs.
P.S. mine is still in the shop and I am really missing the hell out of it now!!!On the brite side however, those new strings I put on my ole Les Paul aren't going to waste!!! Trouble is I keep reaching for the non existent lo pro. Bummer!!! At last count I had thirteen guitars and a bass and I feel like I'm going through withdrawels. Man I got the RG DT's.

Yeah, Ibanez used to release lots of cool stuff here in North America. Now it seems the pickings get slimmer each year.

Mine is a 91 model, serial F121008, and in that year the colours were blk,ca,Lb.This was in the British cataloge.
Never heard of a green one, must look like snot with strings.Reds a cool colour, I had to choose either the red or the blk when I got mine, could'nt afford two.
