...and now it's here!
It wasn't supposed to be here 'til Wednesday, it's 5 days early! Hallelujah!
I took loads of pics, but I'll wait til tomorrow and take some more in natural light before I post any more. The rest are all a bit blown-out looking because of the flash.
Anyway, the guitar...it's brilliant, a terrific instrument. The neck is a lot nicer for soloing on that my RG550, plus the PGM doesn't have the dodgy fret trouble that has plagued my 550 for so long, so I can actually manage some 2 handed tapping now!
It sounds great, though it doesn't have the dark, meaty sound of my RG...it's much more lively, bouncy and energetic, which makes it perfect for shredding etc, but it plays second fiddle to the RG in terms of heavy riffage. Still got to play about with the tones a bit more though, so there may be a heavy riff tone in there somewhere.
It feels really, REALLY nice to hold...seems a lot lighter and slimmer than my 550, though I'm sure that's mostly phsychological, perhaps to do with the cleaner, more stripped down look of the PGM, I dunno. It was set up with 9s, which I'm keeping on for the moment, but they feel like rubber bands compared to the 10s I use on my 550. Much easier to bend etc on them though, so I'm happy.
I love this guitar.
PS: There's a rather strange thing going on with the neck. Take a look at this:
Looks a bit like a 'dip' in the wood, doesn't it? That's what I thought...but run your fingers over it, or tilt it slightly towards the light, and you'll see there's nothing wrong with it, it's perfectly smooth...wierd little quirk in this guitar, methinks. I like wierd quirks.
:edit:
Silly me! I forgot it's name!
Ladies and gentlemen, this PGM301 is hereby christened 'Rebecca'.
