I put the veneer on my guitar!

I posted about ordering veneers in the Tech section, I finally got around to working on it and thought I'd post these pics up..








Noticed my camera settings were ****ed up after I opened em up to resize em and I don't wanna take more. It's rough around the edges, but I don't care.. I'm not a luthier and I've had a lot of fun. What do you guys think? I kinda wanna find a new neck for it

I'm looking for a deep/rich orangey-dark yellow kind of finish similar to this, anyone have any suggestions on what I should use?

Looks like a nice veneer, and would look great with a stain, or even natural.

I'm thinking of doing this once I buy myself a 7620 cause I love that 7 string with the flame maple too lol

Nice job, man! Looks beautiful. you may want to peruse around Reranch.com for some tips and inspiration. That second pic of the Ibanez made me drool all over my keyboard. A nice amber finish with a subtle burst to it. VERY nice if you can pull it off. Good luck, and keep the pics coming!

It wasn't too difficult, requires minimal tools, the most pain in the ass part was cutting out the pickup holes. I got the veneer from Brian at Universal Jems and I used his guide to put em on. If you ask me, this is a great price!

I'm gonna lay the guitar face down on a block of wood and cut it out from the control cavity route

I've been trying out finishes, but I can't seem to find a finish anywhere near what I want..






From left to right; Bare/No Finish, Colonial Maple, and Red Mahogany... I used Miniwax wood finish, I think what I need to use is a dye, right?
