ibanez 540 Radius

Hi,

I'm buying a 540 R neck on the internet for an old 540 R body.

There is no serial code on the head of this neck but letters on its heel:UALRL and a Z and a red o.

would you know a mean to know if this neck is japanese or not and if it's really a 540 R one ?

Thanks

Re: ibanez 540 Radius

Should be Japanese. If it was from the H&S guitars era it would have the H&S stamp. Could be assembled here, wih the SN# on the neckplate(where-ever that is).

The code is(thanks to Rich, and looking at about a dozon of these neck codes):

Ultra(profile) Angled(headstock) Locking(nut) Rosewood('board) Large(frets) and a Zero(inlays. Oval gets an O, Sharkteeth get a T, Dots or 'zeros' get a Z)

I'm impressed, this boy's been paying attention!! I've always thought the N [not Z] and O [as well as others] are inspectors stamps, I never related them to inlays if it's not in the line with the rest of the letters though. You could be on to something though

Thanks a lot man!

would you have a link to the page from which you got your infos please?

this is the link to the photos on ebay( that's the second 540 R neck for sale on the page, the one with tuners and locking nut included, not the first one on the page) :

I think ashbass is a member here and sure would know what he took it off of

That's an N and D, I still think they're inspectors marks though.

Re: ibanez 540 Radius

Oh, okay, I thought the Z was in line.

I've seen an S neck(with ovals) that went like WALRJ-O, and both my RG7xx necks have WALRJ-T24. The last R neck I saw has the same digits as this one, and one other one from an R540LTD had UALRL-T. I kinda put 2 and 2 togther, since every neck with the teeths has a T, the one with the ovals had an O, and the R's come with smaller frets than the S and RGs.

Now more modern ones have the model number instead from what I've seen... hmm.. lol
