well, i have a 24 fret on the way... its black and has the H H config...I will either get EMG 85's for it or PRS pickups for it....

i had a triple , the rosewood came off the maple , gave the neck to a so called friend to fix and he ended up moving w/ my neck......never seen him again, now im looking hard for a replacement but havent seen any and the few i have seen were cracked **** junk, so im stuck w/ a body.....the body was dropped , not hard but enough to chip some paint. i might just sand it, oil finish and throw new hardware on it until i run across a good neck......i wish ibanez would reissue this rare beast. imho it was one of the best guitars ibanez had put out. thats a nice 540 power triple pic yall posted. wanna sell it?

Hey! I have a '88 540P in a dark silver/grey finish. I could only find that color in the Japan catalog for that year. It is the guitar I keep for other people to play when they come over to jam. Damn, now I'm going to have to take a pic!

I'm currently building a 540 PII. I got a brand new neck from an Ibanez warranty shop. I had to buy an aftermarket body from Monster Guitars. The body took some extensive mods (neck pocket, tremolo cavity etc. to work with the neck and the edge tremolo. I had to use a Floyd rose R5 nut as I couldn't find any Ibanez 45mm nuts. It was too thick, so I had to have a machine shop mill it down to match an Ibanez nut, then I had it hot-blued by a gunsmith.

All told, I will have over $1000 into this sucker. Should have just bought one off of E... for $900. Oh well, at least I will have a brand-new 540.

My brother-in-law is a custom car painter. He will be painting the body. I told him to surprise me with the finish, so I don't exactly know what I will be getting when I get the body back.

All parts except the body and the nut are Ibanez. I even have one of the notched neck plates with the thumb notch cut into it. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.

Nuno -- agreed! Placing the single coil right under the 24th fret harmonic node would be an improvement I think. Do you have any pics of your blue 565?

Some of you old-timers have seen my 540P, but I thought I'd share it again. It's a 1987 with a purple/orange/greeen swirl, courtesy Jemfest 2001. It used to be magenta. Also added the green X2N pickup.
