Well, I ve recently made another deal with marianozz, I think its our 3rd deal (correct me if Im wrong Mariano), and as usually it went great without problems, and ended up with both of us pretty happy.
Anyway, the reason Im posting this is because I really really like this guitar. It has an unusual pup configuration, with 2 tone zones. I really like how it sounds, although I would love to try a couple of Gibson pups, probably the 490R and 498T Alnico magnet humbuckers, or may be a couple of burstbuckers.
To me, the guitar looks and feels like coolervariation over the Les Paul "theme".
There are several give aways that make evident that this is a MIK guitar. The
block inlays, although very cool, lack the quality of the same inlays found on the MIJ guitars that feature them. The binding, the use of several pieces of alder for the back, and the tuners also detract a little to the guitar. I guess the original pups also sucked, but I dont know for certain since I never tried it with those.
As it stands now, and despite this issues, its a great sounding and playing instrument, and it looks amazing. Ill throw in some
grover tuners and may be a better bridge in the short term. Then, I may go the extra mile and add those gibby pups.
This one seems like a keeper. So far soundwise....dare I say it? Im liking it more than my jems (10th and PMC). An the neck feels just like home for me.
Its a great guitar I strongly recomend, and marianozz is a great guy that I also recomend.
Ill post picks in the next couple of days.
