Ibanez JPM P2 paint abnormality? Need insight!

I just got my JPM the other day, arrived at my birthday actually. Really nice guitar, and the neck is the best Iīve ever played that says "Ibanez" on it.

Iīve noticed a abnormality in the graphics though, and was hoping you would share your insights, thoughts, or maybe even your conspiracy theories about this

As you can see on the picture below the 22/23rd fret there is a black triangle. This is supposed to be all colored up with pink, at least that is what i gather from all the other pictures i can find. Have anyone else seen abnormalities like this?
Does anyone know how this guitar is painted? Is it paint or is it sheets of paper or something? Iīve heard that the colors can fade.

Anyway, it still looks and plays fantastic. The serial nr. is F99 40165

yeah I just took a look at mine and its pink. That is weird. The JPM P2 neck really does spoil you, I think its way better than the Musicman Petrucci neck. That is a great birthday gift. Enjoy it.

Super wizard necks are very nice necks! I love JPM's Congratz. Shame ibby wouldnt give jp a 7-string....

I thought the JPM neck was a Viper? And isn't a super wizard just a bubinga striped wizard. The demensions aren't different.

Your completly right I thought they were orginal wizard necks on the JPM's well I thought I had read that some were.

jp did not leave ibanez for that reason.

and btw they did make him a 7.

The LACS made him a 7 string with a black and white Picasso paint scheme. They never made a production Petrucci 7 string.

Update: I checked with Rich over at Ibanezrules, and his answer was conclusive:

When he got some higher res pics he concluded with that the was "the factory covering up a ****up". "They blacked it when they did the edge burst" and "you can see itīs over a shot of clear".

So his opinion is that there were never a question of fake, and just the factory covering up a mistake.

Not that it would be the end of the world anyway, if it looks good, sound awsome and plays like something out of this world...it wouldnīt really matter much.

But, somehow i feel a little bit better now :-)

Not to highjack the thread but I was under the impression John left ibanez because they wouldnt make him a production 7...
