Ibanez RG 770's and 750's information needed

Hi,
My name is Amy Schugar and I am my first day here on this site! Wow, what a site this is!
I am the girl, that wrote an album with and toured with Michael Schenker. I am currently endorsed with Daisy Rock, but Love Ibanez. I have two RG 550's also.

My question is: I am wondering more about the 770's abd he 750's as far as what kind of Frets are on these guitars? Jumbo or medium? And the wood used for the bodies and what year were these guitars made??

If someone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful-

By the way, I have beautiful Gold USA Custom Ibanez RG 550. Are these guitars a little on the rare side and I wonder what its worth is? It is a 90- 91? From what I can tell, and near mint condition-

Well welcome to the site, good to hear from you and Michael is a great player, Ive not heard any of your stuff but i look forward to it if he holds in such high esteem. I just checked out your site and have to ask how tall you are you? You look so small next to Michael.

I don't know for sure, but aren't 770/750's just 550's with sharkfin fret inlays and body mounted p/ups? I think they are made from basswood (like most RG's), jumbo frets (I think), and I think they have the same production period as 550's. I really don't know too much about 7xx series but I think I am correct. As for your USA Custom 550, as it's an early 90's I guess it has an old-style neck joint, not an AANJ. Remove the neck and find the serial number, if there is one. Then simply look on the main section of this site for Ibanez serial dating. Although, I'm not too familiar with the US Custom serial numbers, I'm sure they cover it on the site.

I am not sure about the 770's?? But your reply Mop, makes sense to me. Maybe there is a exact way to find out more. Also The USA Custom, is this a good one? It is the one without any pickguard cover and all gold. I really like it so much. I bought it for 305.00 and I think this was a good price, what do you think? Is that about right?

All the 770's & 750's should have jumbo frets, like the 5xx series. They were always basswood, and the features varied widely depending on the year of production. They came out in the late 80's, like maybe '89 with regular neck joints, and ring/guard mounted pickups. They quit by around '94 and by then they had gone through a trem change (to the lo-pro) and direct mount pickups, and other changes, but I don't see where they ever had an AANJ.

If you have a use custom you have an excellent guitar but its probably not a 550 usa custom that wasnt the designation they gave them, regardless all japanese ibanez's are excellent instruments and i think youll really like the edge tremolo systems. Ill try to give a listen to the sound clips on your site later though

The RG7xx series were available from 89-93. The 770DX came out in 91. The pickups (IBZ/USA) were ring mounted until 92 when the 760, 770, and 770DX went to direct mount. The 750's always had pickguard mounted pickups. Like Frank said, they all had jumbo frets and basswood bodies. --Jason

Let me guess, you named the yellow one Spongebob, the blue one Squidworth, and the red one Patrick? The filename gives it away :P

Welcome to the board Amy.

I don't think the USA Custom Metal series were ever based off the 5xx series of guitars. If I recall, practically all of the USA Custom series were based off the 7xx line of guitars. Think of the 7xx line of guitars as your gold USA Custom without the gold paint job.

If you got your USA Custom for $305 and it's in mint/near mint condition then you got it for a pretty good deal. I've seen the USA Custom line of guitars go for as high as $1000+ (and even higher in some places).

Hi Guys its me and I am back on!

Yes I LOVE MY USA CUSTOM AND HOPE TO GET you some pictures soon!! I used it last week for a D'Addario website video my sponsors did for me- I am the only girl they have doing floyd rose stuff and artist on this video shoot and you will see my guitar there!!
i still have not seen another like it on **** or anywhere and I have looked and had it for 8 months now.
I put the Steve Via Evolution pickups in it too!!
And Steve Vias tech Thomas and I are friends and he signed it for me too(:
