Re: Ibanez rg bass

These show up now and then over on the auction site we dare not mention. I want to say there was one or two on there around Christmas time that went relatively cheap - I think under $300. You just have to keep an eye out for them. It's often by a seller who doesn't know what he has, either. For example, they also made Saber basses back in the day, and I picked one up (SB900) on evilbay a couple years ago for about $75, and it was in great shape. It had active pups, pearloid oval inlays, and a pretty thin neck, too. But, the seller listed it as "Ibanez Bass Project" because "the electronics don't work and the neck is loose" - he didn't mention active electronics, made in Japan, rare Saber bass model, any of that. Well, one nine volt and a screwdriver lately - I have a kick arse bass (although I'm actually having the pickups replaced as with Duncan actives right now).

Nice. I really do like the way those look.

First post here
I have an EX series 5 string which I use as my main bass and 4 string of the same as a backup. I don't how anyone can say these basses are ugly! I think they are VERY cool looking. Especially in a 5 string model.

I am continuously searching the net trying to find any of these basses, rd 707, 727 ex 4 and 5 strings etc. Hmm and just checking my email....I think I just found another one

Re: Ibanez rg bass

I've played one of the RD basses that was upgraded w/ Bartolini pickups. I was kinda disappointed with the tone and sustain. BUT, the neck felt great. And I love the shape. The S series basses made for such a cool body shape IMO! That thin shape kinda paved the way for the early SDGR Prestige/1000 series.
