These show up now and then over on the auction site we dare not mention. I want to say there was one or two on there around Christmas time that went relatively cheap - I think under $300. You just have to keep an eye out for them. It's often by a seller who doesn't know what he has, either. For example, they also made Saber basses back in the day, and I picked one up (SB900) on evilbay a couple years ago for about $75, and it was in great shape. It had active pups, pearloid oval inlays, and a pretty thin neck, too. But, the seller listed it as "
Ibanez Bass Project" because "the electronics don't work and the neck is loose" - he didn't mention active electronics, made in Japan, rare Saber bass model, any of that. Well, one nine volt and a screwdriver lately - I have a kick arse bass (although I'm actually having the pickups replaced as with Duncan actives right now).
