Question

Ibanez rg bass

Did Ibanez ever make a bass with a body style identical the RG? i know they make a bass very similar to the S.

quite the contrary, it's one of the coolest designs ever made. the only con, it's a bit oversized, and makes the average-tall player look like a dwarf.

Re: Ibanez rg bass

i like the body but the headstock looks waaaaayyy to small and un-proportioned to the tuning machines and the body...maybe if it was a bit bigger and 2 pegs per side, kinda ice man-esque

They weren't made in huge numbers so they don't show up often or regularly, but they also aren't in very high demand, so when they do show up you can usually pick 'em up pretty cheap (I've seen many sell under $200).

Sellers often don't know the model number either, so they get billed as "Ibanez Bass" rather than RD707 etc.

And there are other models that share the chicken-beak headstock and general shape of an RG but the true equivalent of the RG5xx/RG7xx are the RD models nuno pointed out.

Best of luck.

Re: Ibanez rg bass

They are great basses. I've had several and they're sweet to play. The 707's you can get cheap - the 727 and 828's are a little higher. But they all rock.

Re: Ibanez rg bass

Just how thin are these necks. I think it's a hot looking bass. Love the RG body (Although I've been GASing for an S lately) and I've never really seen a bass that just had the same hit to me. Well the EDA900 but I already have one of those.

Re: Ibanez rg bass

For a bass neck, it is pretty thin. Very easy to get your hand around. It's narrow too.

Meshuggah's ex bass player Gustaf Hielm used to play one:
