Ibanez RG with thicker neck??

Are there any RG models that have a fixed bridge but a lil thicker neck like a strat? That would be perfect for me... Thanks in advance!

Re: Ibanez RG with thicker neck??

Not really. Ibanez make plenty of fixed bridge guitars with slightly thicker necks but the RG series has always been strictly thin neck profiles AFAIK, wizards and the like.

Thickest you'd find is a wizard 2, but the carve on those can be weird for some people.

Look into the RT models. They look very similar (may be the same body even) and the neck is a viper neck.

RG421 with the Wizard II neck. The thickness is not much more, but the profile is fuller, so it has the feel of a thicker neck.

Some RGs have an Ultra Neck !
For exemple, the older 2620 (mahogany with quilted maple top) had one !
Many JCustoms have also an Ultra Neck !

Really thicker than the wizzard, definitely one of the best necks Ibanez ever produced

they have a standard trem (like a strat) so you can just screw it in so it sits flush with the body and it is for all intents and purposes a fixed bridge. the viper neck is very strat (and js) like. unfortunately, they don't make them anymore, but they do show up on the bay somewhat regularly. i've picked up 7 of them that way, so it's not like they are super rare.

Re: Ibanez RG with thicker neck??

I have 2 RTs, 1 RG with a JCM profiled neck (19.5mm thick), 2 JS, one SC, one good old AR100 and a 1978 Silver Series Strat model with a huge neck... Only thick necks, but it's hard to say which one is the best !

I think the Viper neck with small frets has the most natural feeling for me...
