Question

Ibanez RG370DX Advice

Hello all!

I found a guy near me who is looking to sell his guitar gear, but I have a few questions about his gear. I would really appreciate your honest impression of this deal.

The gear he is selling:
- Line 6 Spider III 30 Watt 1x12 Practice Amp
- Ibanez RG370DX (with a chip in the headstock - see pic)
- Ibanez Tube Screamer Pedal
- Two guitar cables

I know a good amount about the RG series, but not much about the 370DX. I have heard good things about them but not from anyone I know personally. Also, is there a good way to fix the chip in the neck. Any suggestions on what to use to get that repaired (how to paint and blend it in). It doesn't have to be perfect as I am a player, but the chip would bother me the way it is.

Anyways, I offered the guy $270 for everything, and he said he will let it go for that. I think that is a pretty great deal for the hardware, but I would like your take. See two pics attached:

Re: Ibanez RG370DX Advice

Good point! I do need the amp and would like the guitar. I would probably sell the pedal. I haven't played the RG370DX, so I was wondering what people thought of that guitar. I also wanted to know if it is possible or easy to repair the chip on the headstock. Thanks in advance for the input!

Re: Ibanez RG370DX Advice

the 370dx is a really good guitar for what it is. if it is made in korea the quality will most likely be great not japan great but great none the less.

the only minus would be the pickups and the trem the pickups are good for metal because they arent very bright.the trem can be good with a setup but its no original edge.

for the price your paying its a great great guitar

Re: Ibanez RG370DX Advice

I asked for the serial number of the guitar, and the owner e-mail me back saying the serial number is:

I 060914269

From what I know of Ibanez serial numbers, this means that the guitar was built in Indonesia in Sept of 2006. It was number 14,269. I have never played an Ibanez made in Indonesia, but I hear it drastically reduces the value. What is an Indonesia version vs a Korean version? Granted this is a RG370, so it will not have the value of say...a prestige. Anyone have any experience with Ibanez guitars made in Indonesia? Does this change anyone's mind? Are they really poor in quality or is that an overexageration by "purists" (people who will only pay Ibanez guitars made in China)?

Thanks!

Re: Ibanez RG370DX Advice

^^ depending on where your from. in most countries the 100 series is gio.

in my experience the main difference between indo and korean models is quality control.

things like sharp frets, or paint imperfections. on my indo 350ex the rg series logo is almost off the edge of the headstock.

value wise, people see the 300 series as just that. there may be a slight difference in price but not much.
