Ibanez RG550 vs the world

I've been playing for around 13 years (half my life), I've gone through
the styles etc... now my home is at Hard/Dark Rock.
I have had 5 guitars so far, mostly fender and Jackson, oh and one epiphone...(joy!). I travel alot and have such bad luck with my gear, (theift/fire etc...) I have just bought my latest baby.
I had been wondering what I wanted for ages, I wanted a mean looking
axe, and one that played great of course. I was sold on an ESP ltd KH503,
So my local dealer imported the model in, when I played it I found it too heavy, and the neck seemed sluggish. I was put off and pissed off, so I left, but as I was leaving...something caught my eye.
It was a second hand, played to hell Ibanez. I stopped and thought for a second..' Oh, it's just another black Ibanez', I was about to continue leaving, when something made me go over and look closer at it.
It was an RG550, black, typical, but the fretboard was so worn, it looked awsome, there were no dings as such, she was in really great condition,
she just looked extremely played.
One of the shop attendents (a guy I know ), came over and said that
she came in 2 days ago and that she played better than any other guitar in the shop, So I took her into the playing room, plugged in and went for it, I went off, but It was due to her ability not mine.
I could'nt beleive how fast the neck was, and the action was so low but clean, artificial harmonics were a breeze and the floating bridge was alot of fun, I played for about an hour in that little room, I could'nt stop.
Eventually and not even having to think about it, I decided to tell the shop guys the bad news, that I had changed my mind and no longer wanted to purchase the ESP (worth NZ$2300), I want this second hand IbanezRG550
(worth NZ$990) ... a bit of a saving, but definately no loss in quality.
I left a very happy fellow.

Welcome to Jemsite and congrats on the guitar.

It's cool to see another member who refers to his guitars as 'she' rather than it. Have you met Nuno (another member, not Bettencourt) yet? He even calls 'em babe sometimes!

Different guitars can do different things, but there's something about RG's that make them so special. I think, if I were a guitar, I would be an RG. No doubt.

Come on, there's nothing sexier than an S series.

Actually, when I was talking about my S with a friend, another person who sat besides me thought I'm talking about my girlfriend

I've got a RG470 that's been played into tiny bits
Next in line for that fate is my S-520ex, a truly shredmade Axe
I tend to be more careful with my other 2 Ibbies anyway...

I've had my RG550DY for 13 years now, and i've also had Strats and a JS100 along the way, but the RG550DY is still my #1! It's the most amazing guitar in the world!

I just want to say that I love my RG550DY as well. It feels and plays just like my jem, and since it only cost me $250, I don't feel bad beating the crap out of it.
