Ibanez RG550ex

Is the price basicly the same for RG550's made in Kora and in Japan?

I've heard that there's major quality differences...
the specs for mine:
Super-Wizard neck
pickups Ibanez v7, s1 og v8
Lo pro Edge bridge
Galaxy black

made in 2002

theres not possible to make sure where it was made by that?
how do i find out where it was made?

Check the serial number on the back of the headstock. Post it up and we can tell you. If it has an F in the front it is Japan. I am not sure about Korean ones.

One exception to the rule is the RG421, which is made in Japan.

Check the SN. Some 400 series RGs are MIJ, but they are essentially pointless, since they won't feature the Edge/LoPro... glen

In my shop in Serbia they are selling Rg 550 ex black with rosewood neck like new guitar!

How is that possible??? guitar dont have tremolo stick and they offered me lower price like 600euros for new rg550....So how this could be true??

Whats the years of production of rg 550 ex black ? Is it in Japan or Korea? Seller told me its from Japan but I dont believe him, maybe he just wants to sell guitar...

All RG550's are made in Japan. The production years for the RG550ex were 2000, 2001 and 2002. If the guitar is new then it is 'new old stock' as they were last made about 9 years ago or it's used but in very good condition. Try and post up a serial number of the guitar, if it's legit the serial number will begin with F00, F01 or F02. Pics would help if you can get them. I wouldn't worry to much about the tremelo arm as you can buy a new one very cheaply.

Oh yeah just noticed that you bumped an 8 year old thread

Don't buy it! It's either a scam, or a Chibanez--another scam. Stay away....stay very far away from that one. We have many quality MIJ RGs pop up in our classifieds here almost daily. On a side note, while reading the 8-year old replies--some early RG-470s were made in Japan AND have an Edge trem. The only real difference between those and the 570s are the output jack access cavity and plate on the back of the body and the jack itself--470s has a jackplate and 570s had a barrel jack.

No problem dude. As AlaskaBat says be very wary of someone who is trying to sell you a guitar and won't send pics. Sounds like he has something to hide. It can't be too hard for him to get his hands on a camera. Is it possible for you to buy the guitar in person??

Re: Ibanez RG550ex

I'd also like to ask how much he wants for the 550EX??? It seems his price is VERY high if the new one is 600 euros less.
