Ibanez RG760 fake or not? (pics)

Hey. I found this delicious Ibanez RG760 used. The thing is that the seller is from South Africa, and I live in Scandinavia. I'm not racist, no!
But the site where I found the used Ibanez warns about sellers from South Africa.

I really dig the guitar, so I thought that if you guys could tell me if the guitar is fake from the pictures which probably is hard. I don't know. It looks real
apart from the "sticker'ish" serial number on the back of the headtock. Looks like it's a sticker or something

http://www.dba.dk/elguitar-ibanez-rg-760-i/id-87859120/

Here's a link to the ad with pictures attached.

And I did check Rich's gallery on jemsite, but it's mainly for signature Ibanez'.

Any help would be appriciated! I'm in love with HHS

Well, only thing I can see is the serial number doesn't concord with what is being said on the listing: He tells that it's a 1988 model, serial number is for an 1990
Also, the color doesn't fit with the years on the serial, Blue is 88-89

http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/RG760

As for the rest, from looking at the picture, it seems right
Edge trem
IBZ/USA pickup
Recessed jack

Could this be an error from the factory or is it a sign that the guitar is fake? And yeah, the trem looks right, but I guess it would be possible to fake an Edge, made of cheaper materials, maybe?

And thanks for the response

Well, I don't know how the factory could mistake an 8 for a 0...

You could ask him to take a picture of the neck pocket, it should states RG560 like on this pic:

Re: Ibanez RG760 fake or not? (pics)

I wouldn't say the guitar is "fake". It looks like a legit 760 neck has the right pickups and trem. At worst its just a newer neck on an older body, not really a big deal unless it was something highly collectible. Mostly likely they are just confused as to the year. I think the warning of doing business in some South African countries is not so much fake items as it is actually getting an item. Have them take a picture of the guitar with a hand written piece of paper with the date and something that identifies them like their email address or name or whatever.

How much are they asking for it in terms of US Currency, you may be able to find one from over hear for the same or less money?

The guitar costs what corresponds to about 520 dollars. I think it would be expensive to buy guitars overseas because of taxes. I also think this guitar is rare. I only know about RG560 and RG760 having a single coil in the neck when it comes to RG's.

My next buy is either going to be this guitar or an Ibanez RG560 (also used obviously). But the RG560 I'm looking at doesn't have the Original Edge in it. It has a Jackson trem instead, and the seller claims that it was an upgrade, but I don't know

By the way! The seller is from same country as me, so I guess I'm just being paranoid. I just really get creeped out that he doesn't speek same language as me when I've been told by the website that I shouldn't trust people speaking english or people from South Africa. Maybe it's just a unfortunate coincidence

Re: Ibanez RG760 fake or not? (pics)

It's a 1990 RG760JB. I'm pretty sure the seller simply has the year wrong. I'm pretty sure Jewel Blue was not a color option in 1988 and RG760's also would have come with black hardware that year.

I second this. The guitar is 100% legit. FWIW....I owned a '90 760JB at one point.

Re: Ibanez RG760 fake or not? (pics)

it's gonna be like 28,5% in customs tax(Sweden,Denmark might be the same), so it won't be a so cheap guitar once you count that in.
What if the trem is bad? are you gonna lube the studs?

Not sure I understand you maqify? Both seller and buyer lives in denmark, now why would it be additional costs on this guitar? The add says 3000DKK for a 1990 RG760 JB, sounds cheap enough for me.

I should have read better-thought the guitar was in South Africa...darn...hehe. Well then it won't be any customs tax, unless they don't charge the Islands for shipping to mainland Denmark...
Then the price is ok, not super good or anything but ok. I know i wouldn't pay more then 3k Swedish for a 20+ years old RG.
