The S series is a really sweet line of guitars from Ibanez. The only problem none of the ones I like where made as lefties
.

I'm after an S next, Hight prestige model. I want it now lol, but I just bought an RG 1527 so I can't afford one just yet.
I'd kill for one of those ZR trems on the 1527 though, it'd play so well, plus lately I've been seing a lot of people who seem to think as I do, the ZR should be employed on the RG series. I think it's about time someone made theose people at ibanez take notice and take action, no offence to thier markating viability group, they're just seriously neglecting thier ****ing jobs.
I challenge anyone to find a nicer trem on an ibanez guitar than the ZR.

I hardly ever use the notes up there, but I find that I have a hard time finding my right hand positions on my LP or other 22 fretters. Not a real big deal but I've just sort of become accustomed to the extra two frets.

...what? Like my Maxxas with its original Edge-Backstop combo? Can you simply unhook a ZR when there's a problem or if you want to clean the fretboard etc.?
IMHO 22 frets suck...not only do you miss the extra 2, but the rest gets harder to reach as well. The way Gibson overcompensated for that on the SG after the
Les Paul
may be called hilarious.

The only thing holding me back from really liking S Series is 22 frets. If they had 24, i'd get one. Its not a creative issue of lacking notes, its a flexibility issue. i like to have a full 2 octave span. Why go 1 and 5/6 of the way? just give the damn thing a couple more frets. As for the ZR, well it looks cool and all but i think a couple of Tremsetters could solve most of the problems on the regular floyd. plus a lot of shred songs require 24 frets, espcially all the ones with the cool arpeggios (
Jason Becker
's Serrana \m/).

Sorry, haven't got any pics...but it's black. And the 22 frets don't make the Maxxas any more playable. Although Jems and UVs are a bit lumpy, they do fit the human anatomy better. Cudos to
Steve Vai
.

Greetings J, I bout soiled myself when I read your post.......
............
I have always preferred the S series myself, I have rather "Napolean-like" hands (and personality
) and the thin necks on my 540 and 470 fit me well. I always wondered why the RG's seemed to be more popular, and I don't see the S's making in big surge in popularity any time soon........hope not anyway, there is some great deals out there now if a person wants an S.
