Ibanez S470 or Godin Velocity?

Which one should I get? The Velocity is $100 more expensive but has a maple fretboard. The Ibanez is an older Korean model (around 2005).

I play mainly alternative / rock but both seem very versatile.

I love the feel of the S470, but I've read many bad things about the Korean ones so I'm kinda unsure...on the other hand, the Velocity feels very solid and very well-built, but doesn't have that sexy thin body haha

Godins are very nice, well built guitars.

At the end of the day YOU need to play both guitars and see which one YOU prefer. Yes some Korean guitars have been dogs, but there are also plenty of good ones. Always play a guitar and decide for yourself. Don't rely too much on Internet hearsay.

Unfortunately both guitars are at different stores so I can't compare them side-by-side. Guess I'll just have to go play them some more. Thanks for the reply!

you have to test'em both.only your hears and your fingers can tell you which one.

I recently picked up the s520ex and i love it. after having my rg270 as my main axe for so long, it was a welcome change. its not better, just different. a lot of possibilities tonaly. love the ZR bridges and the Infinity Pickups are great as well. im partial to ibanezs so id say check out the s520 as well

Don't worry too much about were the guitar is made. It's really more of a warning sign to watch out for crap but it doesn't mean great guitars can't from there. We've had 3 Xiphox (Indoesia) go through the shop I teach at. 2 have been pretty good (and I tweaked the one I bought so it's the best, haha!) but the one we have hanging on the wall right now is crap. Sloppy binding on the fretboard and the paintjob is sloppy around the top of the fretboard (where the nut is) and the bottom. No excuse for that. But Mine is great and so was the other one that went through.

So if you like the feel and sound of the S just check it over for any defects and if you can't find any go for it. Godin makes great guitars though.
