Ibanez S540 Cayman Green pricing help (actual pics)

I need some help here. How much would be the going price of an Ibanez S540 Cayman Green? All stock and in good condition with hardcase included. I think its a 1994 model. The owner is asking $600 for the guitar. Is it a fair price or should the price be not more than $500?

here is a catalog scan from Ibanezrules:
http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1994/94026.jpg

these are the actual (crappy) pics of the guitar sent by the owner. it looks black in the pics:

thanks for the help in advance! cheers

It depends on the condition.

I'm guessing that it would help to have pictures not taken at the food court in the mall with a camera phone would help determine the condition.

IMHO, it's overpriced, unless:
1. the guitar is in pristine condition
2. you've just got to have the maple neck

Even in the case of #1, it still could be overpriced, but in the case of #2, that depends on how bad you really want it.

Re: Ibanez S540 Cayman Green pricing help (actual pics)

Hi,
I have a 1993 maple fretboard S540. I believe in that year, the green version was "Jade Metallic." I bought it three years ago for $320. I sold off two other S540s, but kept this one because the maple fretboards are pretty rare, and I really like the color.

So... the relatively rare maple board bumps the price up a bit, but I think anything over $500 is too much. On the other hand, the going rate for S540s has been creeping up steadily.

thanks for the comments. the pics were just sent through email by the owner. the guitar is in pristine condition but i haven't personally seen the guitar yet. anyways i'll be keeping in mind that $500 is way too much

$600 is high but a new similar guitar is about twice that. $500 with a case is a decent deal in my book...

That S540CG is a cool guitar. A green S with maple board! That would be nice to have in the collection. But the pictures don't look the same at all. Definitely get some better pictures or check it out in person. The price sounds high, but you have to decide what it is worth to you.
