Ibanez screws it’s S buyers over again..
Here is what Ibanez has to offer us S users this next year
The first would be KILLER if it didn't have
• Middle pickup
• Overly obnoxious binding
• Wizard II neck instead of Wizard I
The second would be killer if it had
• Wizard 7 neck
The third would be KILLER if it didn't have
• Middle pickup
• Wizard II neck instead of Wizard I
The fourth would be KILLER if it didn't have
• Wizard II neck instead of Wizard I
The fifth would be KILLER if it didn't have
• Wizard II neck instead of Wizard I
• Silly claw inlay.
I am willing to overlook the ZR because it's a KILLER system.
But the Wizard HAS to make a comeback to these guitars.
Why wouldn't Ibanez put it's thinnest neck on it's thinnest guitar?
Atleast on ONE model. I don't think that is much to ask.

Re: Ibanez screws it’s S buyers over again..
I'm not really even bothered by the Wizard II, the abalone, or the ZR Trem. What bothers me is the utter lack of natural finishes. Where are the WNF's or SOL's? No violin browns, no nothing. I always thought that the natural finishes were perfect for their
Prestige guitars
.

Re: Ibanez screws it’s S buyers over again..
Finishes I can get over. Or redone. I simply dislike the WizardII. And the ZR puts the board and pickups MUCH HIGHER off the body than usual S series were. Making it look and feel less streamlined.
The 2005-2006-2007 S series aren't the same S guitar of Ibanez's past. And not in a good way either.
The dual
humbucker guitar
can get just as many tones as one with a single coil in the middle. I just dislike the look and feel of a single coil in the middle. ESP since it has to be so high off the body on the new ones.
I am sure S-man will come in here with pics soon to show.

The neck heel is the same thickness it always was, no matter what the neck profile is. And there's nothing about the ZR that makes it higher. If anything they're angle routing the neck pocket like they started doing with all models around 2003.

Regardless of the action...which is 2.5 and 2.0 @ the 22nd fret.
I have a S540 with 2.0 and 1.8 and it will look high at that angle...blah
Anyway,
Anyone with half common sense can see the fretboard sits higher.
As do the PUPS etc.

Look at how much higher the pup needs to sit above the body/pup ring.

Measure the neck pocket depth.

Re: Ibanez screws it’s S buyers over again..
This is the second S2170 I've had. I have a friend that has a S520. I've played several new S guitars at guitar shops. They are all the same. The fretboard sits that high. It's because of the thicker heel on the wizard II. or something???
