Explain to me again why no fine tuners in a GOOD thing on a locking bar? *Wouldn't that be a SERIOUS pain? *I mean, after locking I have to fine tune SLIGHTLY just from the locking action...

Wanna save weight? *get a Wilkie.
It doesn't have a locknut... hence the "locking tuners" and no "fine tuners"...

Gotcha. *OK. *THAT makes sense. *Sounds like it'd be a cool setup, 'specially if you DID wanna save weight.

BTW, that's the same system the Ernie Ball/Music Man Petrucci Model's use that gets horribly flamed every time I mention it (trem w/ locking tuners).

yeah, but dude, this is an IBANEZ so that makes it special...

LOL!!!!! :rotf:

heheh just kidding dude. i'm just wondering why JP kept going out of tune during the G3 tour though... i sometimes had doubts about locking tuners under extreme abuse, but then again, i could be wrong...

carvins also use the same system, but i think the locking nut is optional...

i have to try one of these vinnie moore models (or a ernie ball/music man jpm too), but i've never heard of one till just now, so i'm thinking they're not too common.

ahh well...

Eh.. he didn't go out of tune when I saw G3.

Either time.

Nor is he out of tune in any of the MP3's I have or videos I have *shrug*

Wonder where you got that from...

FWIW - JP went out of tune in the Philly show and had to change guitars mid-song.

Yeah but you take any chance to bash JP and EB/MM so I take anything you say about either with a large (small continent-sized) grain of salt! lol :rotf:

Maybe he did *shrug* like that means much. I've seen countless ppl go out of tune live (including Vai), doesn't mean a whole lot really, it's a fact of life.

I had one of these a few years back. It was part of the trade i made to get my first american master.
I will say that the guitar had excellent sustain and mine had locking sperzel type tuners with a big star on the back of them.
I didnt care for the feel of the fret board, though i liked the ebony.

All in all, i wish i had kept it...

these are odd, Id really like to play one, I thought I had seen every ibanez shape up to this point. *the trem is definitely weird. *I remember that Yngwie Malmsteen had a trem like this on one of his guitars, only it was an orignal floyd variant. *The general concensus was that Niccolo Paganini beleived that fine tuners were for beginning violinist, who could barely tune, hence his hatred of the floyd rose. *LOL, still it does provide a more strat like feel, just unlock your nut and dont use your fine tuners, let that headstock breathe and see what I mean? *Now lock the #IU#RUEUR thing down cause its a stupid ideal LOL
