IBANEZ WANTS TO KNOW WHICH MODELS THEY SHOULD RE-ISSUE.

I got a call from my rep today asking me which Ibanez models from their past they should reproduce. I mentioned the JEM swirl and Satriani guitars, but told him I'd ask around to see what other people thought. Apparently they're thinking about digging into their past and re-issuing some models. Any ideas? I'll pass them along to Hoshino in a couple days.

The Chesbro reps asked the same question 2 years ago on behalf of the factory, nothing ever came of it. But just in case...

JEM77BFP [or ANY maple board Jem]
JEM77FP [ripe for another run]
JS1000TB [BP is just plain BORING!!!]
PGM300 [still in production, just not imported]

If they need an idea for a new model they already blundered past the UV's 10th anniversary.

Are you serious???? Well, so apart from swirls and JS's with graphiics, i'd say: JS-6/JS-6000, USRG-10, RT-650, and Artfield AFD45

Definitely a reissue of the RT line. How's about giving us more bound neck RGs?

Heck, I'd be a lot happier if Ibanez would just bring some of the prestige/J-custom guitars they're currently making for other markets over here!

But, for the sake of keeping with the theme, how about some of the old UCEW and American Master designs? I'd particularly like to get my mitts on a new UCEWFM/UCEWQM!

As much as I would LOVE to see PGM's here, i don't see it happening.

Did someone mention a maple board JEM?

My opinion is mixed on the whole reissue thing. Yeah we'd all love a UVMC with 2003 parts but can you just think of the incredible price tag on something like that. It would be beyond a lot of our reach. Also, It might PO a few people off who paid top dollar for their vintage instruments and will see the value disappear practically overnight. Reissues are done as a last resort when there arent any fresh ideas. I just think ibanez needs to progress into the future. That satriani 7 would be a good start along with maybe a v bodied guitar. How about exotic wood guitars?
Well if i did have my choice I would like to see the 540s7, UVMC, and the js90ham brought back. The voyager would be cool too.

How about all those old custom RGs with wild graphics??? Or new RGs with graphics.

How about a 20th anniversary EVO relic??

couple of lines of thought here...

1. product expansion INSTEAD of reissue - ibanez should not reissue any axe verbatim, rather take bits and pieces for new models. Ie. maple board jems, purge the boring JS paints and use the HAM paint on the JS1000 instead, release many natural wood RGs (ie. UCEW-ish) such as from Japan - including FIXED bridges, and/or simply import the nice axes from Japan that Hosh USA is too afraid to bring over. More colors and variety. Begin to transition AWAY from exclusively the double-locking trems and start creating upscale fixed bridge models and non-locking "vintage" trems but that work well. The Artist line is so ripe for expansion, except that ibz is instead more interested in pumping out Chinese RGs w/ single-locking trems that fill inventory space in superstores.

2. do a complete reissue of classic ibz axes one or two at a time. UV77MC, JEM77GMC, Donnie, RG550DSY (just kidding!), UCEWs, JEM77BFP, etc. in that order.

3. do more limited axes, but not with hokey "anniversaries" - FLO clone, JS snake & his new flame axe for starters. If steve or joe are playing it... then sell it EXACTLY as it appears. WYSIWYG ...glen

I'd say Jem FP with AANJ and new trem. Although it shouldn't be called "reissue", but I still want one.

The JS90HAM's color on new JS1000, RG570, or Jem would be nice also.
