ID these older rg's
Ahhhhh it won't let me post pics till 20 posts!!!
This is an rg 550 my buddy has that I played on for about a yr. definetly an orange color and not a fadded red! thinking its a 90, don't have any more pics and didn't write down the serial.
I also had an used
rg570
back in 97 i believe. it was sparkly/metallic red with a black headstock. ibz v pickups with black plastic rings around them and a low pro edge. what year you guys think this is from? Im thinking early 90's like 90-91. didn't write down the serial number for this one either.
I have a pic of it but its one of those pics from years ago when you actually had to take it to the store and get it developed and printed lol. I don't have a scanner to get it on my comp.

Re: ID these older rg's
ok the 550 is close but not exact. It had a black headstock and the pickups said IBZ V1 ect. there is no IBZ on those pickups just the V1 ect.
The 570 had a black headstock as well. is lipstick red a metallic colour cause this one defintly had flake/sparkle in it. It had something written on the pickups too but don't remember.
as soon as I get my 20 posts I can post a pic of the 550.

Re: ID these older rg's
Lipstick Red is not a metallic color... I've got a RG560 in LR and you'd never say it was metallic.
A 570 with sparkly metallic flake finish is sometimes known as a 517, though I've only heard of them in blue, green, and grey.
(and while there is a "red sparkle 520" there, it's a custom paint job)
Did the 570/517 you had have a square heel or AANJ? And are you sure it was a stock paint job? Did the neck have a skunk stripe or not?

Carotene Orange is CO, CA is Candy Apple. The 1988 Catalog has Carotene Orange RG560s and 540Ps, I believe.
That being said, it's easy to say RFR is "orange", so if he's guessing it's a '90, it's easy to be of by a couple of years. OR the 1989 catalog mentions FA in the RG550s, which is Five Alram Red, which is also kind of orangish.
