Re: Identify this RG
I've never seen one like that.
Direct mounted pickups
and a clear pickguard... weird. Quite cool, actually.

Re: Identify this RG
My FP has direct mounted pups & clear pickguard. Anyhoo the color of that one reminds me of the white UV's.

Re: Identify this RG
Yeah, not saying there aren't
Ibanez guitars
with
direct mount pickups
and clear guards, there's a number of them including the RG770DX and some of the FP's, but I have never seen what looks like an RG470 or something (TRS trem, dot inlays, etc) and direct mount pups w/ clear guard. I know quite a bit about RG's, but this one escapes me completely. The only thing I can think is it's something like a 470 with a refinish (no screw holes from the pup mounting rings) and modded slightly. I don't think it has been refinished, though.
Pretty cool how it's being played by a ghost.

Re: Identify this RG
Take the neck off and see what the stamp says on the body. I'm betting it's something like RG470dx. --Jason

Re: Identify this RG
Yes, remove the neck. Actually, some people are terrified of doing this, but there's nothing to be scared of.

Re: Identify this RG
Terrified of finding "Chibanez RG666DX" stamped in the neck pocket, I think.

then you'll be living in mistery forever. it's worth to risk your life than to live without knowing...
kidding
no clue what it is, looks like one of those market "survey" they'd do especially in Europe. or probably one of those unique
custom models
made for Guitar Center that happened to be shipped to Europe by mistake. as weird as it may seem, these kind of mistakes DO happen, and not that seldom.
anyway, you must tell your father that taking a look into the neck/body joint is very important for the whole Ibanez community around the world. we gotta know what it is, and your "sacrifice" will save the planet. all in all, it's just two pieces of wood screwed together, there's no way to damage anything. i do it almost daily.

Re: Identify this RG
or it could be one of those misterious "B" models that Ibanez put out apparently to avoid trashing loads of left
TRS trems
. like the RG250B you can see here:
this had b/w/b pickguard and black stock pickups before we modded it. i'm not saying yours is a 250B of course, because it's rear-loaded, but who knows, they're probably from the same family.

I'm 99.9999999999999999% certain that it's an RG470 with an aftermarket pickguard.

I agree with this. I should think that a quick look at the type of output jack would confirm it.
