Identyfying a 1st year RG.. without serial

There may be something printed on the neck joint but not 100% on that. I hate the sticker period Ibanez went through. My original RG560 from 1987 still has it on there.

I know the non-logo'ed pups were only for the first year or 2 iirc..

if it's a Road Flare red, i think it's a '87-'88 as int'l and USA catalogs would tell. also, the volume knob is pretty close to the bridge pickup, like on the '87-'88 RGs, so i'm pretty sure it's a 87-'88. nice score

Good question, especially given the gouges to the body near the trem.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think only '87 got that silver sticker, vs the smaller serial decal.

The silver sticker was more prone to removal than the others, and given that the volume knob is close, leads me to think '87.
